Blog: A taste of what you may find on Maui

Today is the last day of our visit with my parents. As always, it’s been nice having them here.

It seemed like a fitting occasion to go out for lunch to Gannon’s at the Emerald Course in Wailea. We love going there. The view is beautiful, the food is good (breakfast, lunch and happy hour are quite reasonable, dinner is pricier).

While we were waiting for our food, it started to pour! We were sitting on a covered part of the lanai and stayed nicely dry. While everyone else scrambled to stay dry, I busied myself taking pictures of the rain. You know you’ve been living on Maui for a while when you are taking pictures of a rare rainfall!

As we were driving home, we wondered how much it had rained at our house (yes, Sig had the rain gauge out – once a farmer, always a farmer). Just as we crossed the border into Kihei (near Kihei Surfside), the road was completely dry. An hour later it is now raining in Kihei. Hooray! It won’t last long, it never does. And if it is raining where you are, get in the car and go for a drive. You can usually find sunshine somewhere on Maui.

By the way, it’s not a good day to go swimming at the beach because…. (have you been reading my blog at all??)…. murky water! Don’t be shark bait!
