go! Airlines announced today that it is ceasing it’s Hawaiian inter-island flights effective April 1st, 2014. This is big news for Hawaii – we are now down to one major inter-island airline, Hawaiian Air and a number of small aircraft airlines. I wonder if the ‘little guys’ will be able to keep inter-island ticket prices competitive. For those with confirmed flights on go! for April-June 2014, there is an arrangement to transfer your booking to Hawaiian Airlines. Here is a copy of the press release together with Q&A.

There is still Island Air which Larry Ellison (the owner of much of the island of Lana’i) bought a year ago. There is also Mokulele Airlines which was in the news last fall for having an impressive emergency landing on Kihei’s Piilani Hwy). Am I missing any? Let me know! I haven’t flown inter-island on any airline other than Hawaiian.
Is there a ferry? That depends – where did you want to go?
